Relativity Media (“Relativity”), a next-generation media company, announced today it has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with 3C Media (“3C”), the leading format rights and content provider in China. The partnership includes 3C and Relativity jointly producing and developing up to four local language productions per year based on Relativity content, as well as a minimum of two local language remakes of Relativity films for theatrical release each year. 3C will also invest in and co-own films released in China through Relativity’s wholly-owned subsidiary SkyLand.

Relativity Studios today announced that Matt Alvarez, a producer and executive producer of hits such as Ride Along, the Barbershop franchise and Relativity’s upcoming Beyond the Lights, is joining the company as EVP of Production and President of Relativity Studios’ newly formed multicultural division. Relativity Media (“Relativity”) today announced that Angela Courtin will become the company’s first Chief Marketing Officer. Courtin, who is the former President of Dentsu Aegis Network, will lead marketing initiatives for film, television, and sports as well as oversee all branding and advertising campaigns across the company. In this role, she will also oversee Madvine, the company’s branded entertainment and consumer products arm and Relativity Digital. Relativity Media (“Relativity”) and EuropaCorp announced today the companies have formed a new U.S. distribution and marketing joint venture to support both Relativity’s and EuropaCorp’s U.S. distribution for their respective film slates. Under the terms of the deal, EuropaCorp will pay approximately $130 million, anticipated to be paid over a six year timeframe, for a 50 percent stake in the joint venture. Relativity will own the other 50 percent. Each company will exclusively use the services of the joint venture and will directly distribute its own films. Building upon the success of Relativity and EuropaCorp’s previous co-production partnership, each company will also have the opportunity to co-produce and co-finance each other’s future films under the new agreement. The joint venture will be overseen by Tucker Tooley, President of Relativity, and Christophe Lambert, CEO of EuropaCorp.

WWE Studios (NYSE:WWE), Relativity and Blumhouse Productions announced today a partnership in connection to the release of Intrepid Pictures’ Oculus, the Mike Flanagan-directed supernatural horror film starring Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Not Another Happy Ending), Brenton Thwaites (the upcoming Maleficent, The Giver), Rory Cochrane (Argo, Parkland) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick). WWE Studios will leverage its extensive multi-platform reach to help promote the film that debuted at the Midnight Madness section of the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. Oculus was developed and produced by Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans of Intrepid Pictures, who co-financed with MICA Entertainment and is set for a wide theatrical release on April 11, 2014.

Relativity Television announced today at MIPCOM 2013 that the company has partnered with Georgeville Television and executive producer Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook, The Hangover) on “Limitless,” a scripted television series. Leslie Dixon and Scott Kroopf will serve as co-executive producers. The series is based on Relativity’s hit 2011 movie, Limitless, which opened #1 at the U.S. box office on its way to grossing over $160 million worldwide.

Relativity announced today that it is collaborating with BET Networks on the currently in production film Blackbird. Relativity, which is financing, producing and distributing the film, has licensed the television rights to BET Networks, marking the first association between the two companies. BET Networks will broadcast Blackbird in the United States and South Africa after its U.S. theatrical release.

Relativity today announced that the company has formed Relativity Middle East, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Relativity Media. The new venture will be headquartered in the region and be a turnkey content supplier for all forms of content in the region. In addition, the company will partner with Middle East-based producers to create original film, television and digital entertainment content. At the same time, the studio has entered into a Middle East distribution partnership with Gulf Film, LLC, the leading film distributor and exhibitor in the region, accounting for over 50% of the Middle East’s film releases. As part of the multi-year agreement, Gulf Film will distribute Relativity’s films across all media in the territory including Relativity produced and acquired titles and third party, sales agency titles handled by Relativity International.

Relativity today announced the formation of 278 Films, which will distribute independent films through Relativity’s national distribution platform. 278 Films is designed for producers who are looking for all distribution services while managing their own prints-and-advertising campaign. Relativity and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions announced today that the companies have partnered to acquire the horror film Oculus, starring Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Not Another Happy Ending), Brenton Thwaites (the upcoming Maleficent and The Giver), Rory Cochrane (Argo, Parkland) and Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica, Riddick). The film was screened during the Midnight Madness section of the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. Relativity plans a wide release and further distribution details including a release date will be announced at a later time. Oculus was developed and produced by Intrepid Pictures, who co-financed with MICA Entertainment. The deal was brokered by Paradigm on behalf of Intrepid and Trevor Macy, and negotiated by Glenn D. Feig of Reder & Feig LLP.

Relativity announced today that is has acquired the worldwide rights to finance, produce and distribute The Best of Me based on the bestselling novel by acclaimed author Nicholas Sparks. The Best of Me continues the strong relationship between Relativity and Sparks and marks their third project together. Relativity released Safe Haven on February 14, 2013 and the film has grossed more than $96 million in worldwide box office to date. Previously, Relativity developed, produced and financed Dear John which grossed over $114 million worldwide.
