As President of Music for Relativity, Bob Bowen is responsible for the overall creative direction, strategic development and implementation of Relativity’s music initiatives. Bowen’s leadership includes overseeing the department’s administrative and day-to-day business functions as well as creative, production and management of Relativity’s film music. In addition, he has oversight of Relativity’s Record label, Relativity Music Group. Bowen joined Relativity as Senior Vice President of Music in 2011 and was promoted to his current title in 2013.
Bowen has overseen the music production on Relativity Studios’ most successful films, including director Tarsem Singh’s, Immortals, which grossed more than $225 million worldwide, as well as Singh’s stylish Snow White adaptation, Mirror Mirror, with a score by eight-time Oscar® winning composer Alan Menken.
In addition, Bowen has played a key role in the creation and production of original music for Relativity Studios’ films, including the 2015 Oscar® nominated Best Original Song “Grateful” written by Diane Warren and performed by Rita Ora for Beyond The Lights; Keith Urban’s Golden Globe® nominated, RIAA-certified Gold single “For You” for Act of Valor; and the 2014 Grammy® nominated original song “We Both Know” written and performed by Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw for Safe Haven. He also has overseen the production and release of over 20 soundtracks for Relativity Music Group.
Prior to his role at Relativity, Bowen served for 13 years as Executive Vice President, Music for New Line Cinema, a division of Time Warner and was successful in managing music production on more than 45 films and numerous platinum-gold selling soundtracks, including the box-office hits Wedding Crashers, Austin Powers in Goldmember, the Rush Hour franchise, the Blade franchise, Four Christmases, About Schmidt and Elf. In addition, Bowen was elected for two years (2012-2014) to the Board of Directors for the South Eastern European Film Festival.
Bowen graduated with an M.B.A. from the University of Oxford where he serves as a Regional Ambassador. Prior to his M.B.A, Mr. Bowen received a B.A. in marketing from Saint Bonaventure University.
Relativity Music Group, a division of Relativity Media, was founded in 2009 and has grown rapidly to be a strong force in soundtrack album releases around the globe. The music group provides in-house music supervision for films, in addition to releasing soundtracks and score albums for some of today’s greatest films, from both major & independent studios, and TV networks. Relativity Music Group is currently negotiating international licensing agreements for its music assets and exploring acquisitions of music libraries and music publishing catalogs.
